Expansion Joints
- THERMAL EXPANSION & CONTRACTION CONTROL : Fernco Expansion Joints are designed for vertical above-ground drain, waste and vent piping, helping accommodate thermal movement while eliminating costly offsets normally used in these systems.
- ONE-PIECE, MAINTENANCE-FREE DESIGN : Unique one-piece construction with positive positioning internal stops helps eliminate malfunctioning sliding parts that can jam, freeze or leak over time.
- SIMPLIFIED INSTALLATION : Suitable for commercial and residential applications, including DWV stacks and rain water conductor systems. Tightens with standard tools to 60 in-lbs. torque and is rated for a maximum 4.3 PSI test pressure.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Fernco Expansion Joints are engineered to accommodate the thermal expansion and contraction of vertical above-ground piping in drain, waste and vent systems. Their one-piece design provides a dependable, maintenance-free solution that helps eliminate costly offsets while reducing the risk of jamming, freezing or leaking associated with sliding-part alternatives. Featuring internal stops for positive positioning, these joints are ideal for commercial and residential applications, including DWV stacks and inside rain water conductor systems. Fernco Expansion Joints install simply, perform reliably and help maintain proper system movement in changing temperatures.

Installation Instructions
- Loosen the stainless steel clamps. Do not remove clamps from expansion joint.
- Insert the pipe ends into the expansion joint to pipe stops. Install in normal position.
- Tighten clamps to 60 in-lbs. of torque.
- Pipes must be supported independently of expansion joint to maintain proper alignment.
- Test for leaks before concealing (maximum 4.3 PSI).
NOTE: Temperature must be considered during installation. Extreme hot or cold conditions will cause the pipe to expand or contract as it acclimates. Consult pipe manufacturer for expansion and contraction of plastic pipe to determine the number of expansion joints needed for your specific application.
